At the beginning of the module I was given the opportunity to research different photographers and film makers. I spent several weeks viewing photography, writing my thoughts towards them and recording what effect these films had on me. All of this information was then added to my blog.  During research I came across a lot of photographers that inspired me. All of which have been reflected upon in my blog.

I have completed project throughout the module that have steered me in the right direction for my final piece. At the beginning of the module i wasnt very skilled at photography although i have learnt a lot during the past weeks. Importance of lighting/colour, macro photography, emotion, sound and images, stills film and more.

Overall i have enjoyed this module i have been able to creative and individual which appeals to me. If i were to change anything i thing it would be working more creatively with the camera such as adjusting shutter speed, exposure ect. to see what effect it would have on my work.

My final peice is called “gift”. Throughout this module i have researched and created media texts that have inspired my final piece. I took these picture from point of veiw shots i wanted my film to draw the audience in. By shooting in this way i was able to create another person. I hope that when viewing this the audience feel a connection.

I wanted to discuss this picture because i believe it holds alot of emotion and meaning. The girl in this picture is un aware that i’m taking this photograph. This photo displays the contrast childhood and growing up. From looking at this picture it is clear to see the girl is young, but not a child, maybe 16, 17. The thing that appeals to me the most is how simalar yet different both subjects are.

This photograph was inspired by Hannah Starkey who is one of my favourite photographers.

My narrative peice is based on “exploring the outdoors” i have decided to base my film around the song “over the pond” by the album leaf. My film displays a girl wandering around in the outdoors. Trying to find an adventue. I got inspiration for the film “the secret garden” I took some photographs of the girl peering through a hedge, creating the illusion there is a magical pond on the otherside. My film explore how she finds her to enter the pond.

Initialy Eric Lusito’s work didn’t appeal to me. I thought his work was basic and bland, i didnt really understand what the message was. However, when i researched i found that his work held alot of meaning. Lusito takes photos of abandoned building, the result after the cold war. His work is historical and almost haunting.

This research has inspired my work for Sound and Image when capturing sound for my photo i want it to be something that in noticed very often.

Sam Taylor Wood uses actors to model in her photographs. Within these photos the actors are crying. I think this is done on purpose. When looking at her images it asumed that the actors are “acting”- pretending to cry. To the left is a photo of James Bond actor Daniel Craig. This image definitly raises the question…How do you know when a photo is true???

However the next photograph of the soldier crying seems genuine. This is because he appears to be soldier and he isnt well known like Daniel Craig is. But how do we know this is real?

Overall i believe it is quite easy to make something look “real” This could range from emotion to location. Thats what makes photography so creative.
